Consular Corps NI Partners in Major Sanctuary Information Fair

BELFAST – The Consular Corps for Northern Ireland served as a main partner in the Big
Sanctuary Information Fair, held at Queen’s University Belfast’s Whitla Hall during Refugee Week

The Consular Corps joined forces with Queen’s University Belfast, Advice NI, and the NI Housing
Executive to support an afternoon dedicated to providing practical advice, connection, and support
to refugees, asylum seekers, and minority ethnic communities across Northern Ireland.

Over 40 organisations participated in the free event, which offered vital information on housing,
health, education, immigration, and employment. Attendees also had access to free one-to-one
consultation clinics with various support services

The event was attended by Professor Sir Ian Greer, Vice-Chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast,
and welcomed members of the public with a particular focus on supporting those from minority
ethnic backgrounds and sanctuary seekers.

The Consular Corps’ involvement as a main partner demonstrates its ongoing commitment to
promoting inclusion, supporting vulnerable communities, and fostering collaboration among
organisations dedicated to creating a welcoming environment in Northern Ireland.

The partnership reflects the Consular Corps’ broader mission of building bridges between
communities and providing support to those navigating life in a new country. The event showcased
the power of collaborative action in advancing sanctuary and inclusion initiatives across the region.
