BELFAST – The Consular Corps of Northern Ireland held a productive meeting with Indian
diplomatic representatives, welcoming V.V.S. Rama Krishna, Acting Consul General of India in
Belfast, and Consul Ms Purnima Ramakrishna.
The meeting was attended by Nicholas Lestas, Honorary Consul of Cyprus and Vice-President of
the Consular Corps NI, and Giorgio Zarrelli, Consular Agent for Italy and Secretary of CC-NI. The
session provided an opportunity to present the Consular Corps, its membership, and its activities to
the Indian diplomatic team.
Discussions centred on the communities represented by the Consular Corps and the Indian
community in Northern Ireland. The Indian community, long-standing and active in the region, has
made significant contributions to Northern Irish society over the years
The meeting was organised by Sanjay Ghosh, facilitating dialogue between the diplomatic
representatives and the Consular Corps leadership.
The Indian consuls are expected to attend the Consular Corps’ Annual General Meeting in June,
alongside the Board and membership of the organisation.
The engagement reflects the Consular Corps’ commitment to fostering relationships with
diplomatic representatives and supporting the diverse communities they serve across Northern
Ireland.
