The Consular Corps of Northern Ireland was pleased to participate in the celebrations marking the 77th Republic Day of India in Belfast, organised by the Consulate General of India.
On behalf of the Consular Corps, we extend our sincere appreciation to the Acting Consul General of India, Mr VVS Rama Krishna, for hosting an elegant and meaningful evening that exemplified the spirit of diplomatic cooperation and international friendship. The event provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen ties among the consular community and celebrate alongside the Indian diaspora in Northern Ireland.
The reception welcomed distinguished guests, including the Lord Lieutenant, Dame Fionnuala Jay-O’Boyle DBE DStJ, Junior Minister Joanne Bunting, and representatives from across the diplomatic, governmental, business, and civic sectors. Such gatherings reinforce the importance of multilateral engagement and the shared commitment to fostering understanding among nations.
Republic Day marks the adoption of India’s Constitution on 26 January 1950, establishing the nation as a sovereign democratic republic. The celebration of India’s constitutional values—democracy, pluralism, and unity in diversity—resonates deeply with the principles that guide the international community and the work of consular representatives worldwide.
The cultural programme featured an outstanding performance by Mudra Dance Academy, offering a beautiful window into India’s rich artistic heritage. These cultural exchanges serve as important reminders of the connections that transcend borders and unite our diverse communities.
The Consular Corps of Northern Ireland values such occasions to come together in recognition of significant national milestones and to reaffirm our collective commitment to promoting cooperation, dialogue, and friendship among all nations represented in Northern Ireland.
Our congratulations to Acting Consul General Mr VVS Rama Krishna and the entire Indian community. We thank you for the gracious invitation and for facilitating this important moment of celebration and diplomatic fellowship.
